The Kingston MobileLite Wireless G2 can increase your storage by up to 2TB

Have you ever found yourself running out of storage on any of your iDevices? I have, with a 16GB iDevice, it’s always been a hassle having to delete games/photos/videos to make space for movies. Well no more, the Kingston MobileLite Wireless G2 can extend the storage of your device by up to a whopping 2TB.

The Kingston MobileLite Wireless G2 (I’ll probably be refer to it as the ‘G2’ from here on, since its a bit of a mouthful) will extend the storage of your device, stream media to it from external sources and it’ll charge your device.

Extend your storage
The Kingston MobileLite Wireless G2 allows you to transfer files between your iDevice and an external storage device, such as an SD card or a USB drive. So, say you’re out taking pictures or shooting videos and you’re running out of space on your iPhone what do you do when there’s no wifi connection around, you simply power on the G2 and plug in that USB flash drive or SD card you’ve been carrying around (for whatever reason) and send your photos and videos to the external storage device, then simple delete them from your iPhone. The G2 can extend your storage up to 2TB through USB drives and SD cards.

Media streaming
The Kingston G2 does a great job of streaming media from SD cards and external drives, I hooked mine up to my 1TB Samsung portable hard drive, so I have quick, easy access to all my movies, home videos, photos. By holding the power button down for 3 seconds, the G2 creates it’s own little wifi hotspot, which you connect to with your devices. To view your files, you need to download the dedicated iOS app, and it’ll play almost everything you throw at it, including .mkv’s, .mp4’s, .avi’s and much more. You don’t even have to view your video files within the Kingston iOS app, you can also ‘Open in…VLC‘, which I’m sure many of you’ll agree is one of the best iOS media players around.

Portable charger function
Pressing the power button for a second will light up the green LED and start the charging function, so you can plug your device into the USB port to start charging it. The MobileLite Wireless G2 packs a 4640mAh battery which Kingston claims is capable of charging an iPad Air up to 30% and fully charging an iPhone 5 (from 0%) twice. I wouldn’t really use the charging function of the G2 as there are dedicated portable banks that are made to do just that.

If you own a device that has limited storage (8GB or 16GB) and you’re looking for extra space to watch movies or shows, the Kingston MobileLite Wireless G2 is a great piece of kit. You won’t have to worry about deleting games or apps to make space for a movie and the reasonable size of the device means you can take it anywhere with ease. Obviously the main function of this device is to stream media to all your devices, the charging function is just that little extra, in case you need a boost while you’re out. For the attractive price of $30 from Amazon (as of this post), the Kingston MobileLite Wireless G2 is pretty good solution for those with limited storage iDevices.
