Doing More With iPad

Popular desktop browser, Firefox, comes to iOS

Mozilla had been testing their web browser for iOS for a few months now, and today it officially made its way onto the App Store. The new browser is compatible with all iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches running iOS 8.2 and above.

In an already crowded iOS browser market, Mozilla’s Firefox is pretty late to the table, but is it better late than never?

I think Firefox for iOS is primarily aimed at already Firefox users, it supports Firefox accounts, allowing them to sync bookmarks, browsing history and passwords across all their devices, which is pretty handy. The new iOS browser also brings with it features like search prediction, incognito browsing and a visual tab management system.

It has some pretty cool features, but it just doesn’t do anything new, there isn’t much here to make you switch from your current browser. If you’re an already Firefox user, the iOS version will probably appeal to you.

For me, Safari is my main choice of web browser, I use it on my Macbook, my iPhone and my iPad, and it ‘just works’, it does what I need it to and does so gracefully. Personally, I’ll be sticking to Safari for a long time to come.
