Doing More With iPad

Pocket Full of Jellyfish

For photographers and videographers alike having the right accessories to capture and shoot the next great photo or film is important.

Square Jellyfish is looking to provide a little help by offering some new options for those in the market for extremely portable camera tripods and mounts. What started out as an unsuccessful experiment on kickstarter, has found new life on Amazon.com. The following are four products with patents pending that I had some time to play with.

The first product was a portable case for Earbuds that works as a stand. It comes with a pair of standard headphones that won’t wow anyone in regards to sound quality which is fine; it seems they come with the product just as an added bonus. When flipped open it can function as a stand for a smartphone, a small tablet or full size iPad with smart cover.

WHAT I LIKED:

It’s simple to use and works like advertised it’s basically four products all into one and for $10 on Amazon it’s a real good value. I easily placed my iPhone on it, watched videos or listened to music, same with my full sized iPad, without a problem.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:

As a headphone case it just didn’t work, I actually didn’t find it as easy to whined up but, maybe that’s just me not doing it right. It doesn’t feel real durable either, I know it’s just plastic and it does get the job done for the most part but, for how long? I don’t believe this product could take being stepped on even once. Handle with care, would definitely apply here.

TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY:

If you’re in the market for an inexpensive stand for your smartphone or tablet this would be a wise purchase.

The second product was the pocket tripod that can be used with any pocket camera, to take many different camera shots all while holding your camera in a stable position.

WHAT I LIKED:

Made out of polycarbonate, it felt durable and its unique design did allow for some interesting camera angles. It truly can fit in your pocket, but, you’ll also need a small flat head screwdriver to help fasten it to the base of your camera.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:

Attaching it to the bottom of your camera can be a bit tricky, when attempting to get the position you want, while trying to tighten it into place. Just takes a little effort nothing too major.

TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY:

If you’re on a tight budget you really can’t get any better than this for $6 dollars on Amazon.

The third product is the Spring Tripod Mount that is designed to hold a smartphone, MP3 or pocket camera 2 ¼” to 3 5/8” in width. You can adjust the arms to hold your device horizontally, vertically or even upside down.

WHAT I LIKED:

The grip on your device is stable, the spring action works well adjusting to the size of whatever smartphone you place on it providing a good tension that holds it firmly in place.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:

Nothing to not like here, I think it’s all good.

TO BUY OR NOT TO BUY:

A solid buy at $14.95 on Amazon.

The fourth and final product is the Jelly Legs with Micro Ball Head, a micro tripod with macro camera angle flexibility. It works with the pocket camera and also the spring tripod mount.

WHAT I LIKED:

The look and feel is solid from top to bottom; it truly captures the Square Jellyfish theme with the little green legs at the bottom. The Micro ball head is great at giving you a multiple range of camera angles. It easily worked with the spring tripod mount, giving me my very own mini entertainment center. In my opinion this is their best product.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE:

Nothing that I can think of, it’s my favorite one of the bunch.

BUY OR NOT TO BUY:

A definite buy, heck just go crazy and buy a whole bunch of them. They will make excellent stocking stuffer’s for Christmas.
