[Coming Soon] Modern Combat 5 update

Gameloft recently tweeted that the next Modern Combat 5 update will be pretty big. Previous updates included iPhone 6/6 Plus optimizations and iOS 8 Metal update. Just to recap, the Metal-update meant that A7 and A8 devices on iOS 8 could benefits from things like new effects that use up to 5 times more particles, richer environments and weather effects. As Metal is a hardware dependent feature, only iPhone 5s and above and iPad Mini Retina + Air can benefit from Metal app updates, other devices will not see any difference.

Now back to the update at hand, the upcoming update will have controller support, a new hack prevention system and the addition of an old favourite map called Overtime, some of you may remember it from the previous Modern Combat game, the tweet also says we can expect a few extra surprises. MFi controller support should mean that we could use the jailbreak tweak ControllersForAll to play Modern Combat 5 with PS3/PS4, WiiU, iPEGA controllers. Im guessing we could see the next update sometime next month

If you still havent bought Modern Combat 5 yet, its definitely worth checking out once the new update hits – App Store link
Gameloft have been saying they are going to add MFi controller support for a while now (since the initial release in fact). Just thought I’d update this post to say that there have been a few updates to Modern Combat 5 but not the update we’ve all been hoping for, so we have no idea when (if ever) they’ll add controller support.
