Apple Increases Maximum App Size to 4GB

On Thursday, Apple increased the maximum app size limit on App Store downloads, from 2GB to 4GB. The 2GB limit had been in place since the launch of the App Store in 2008. This is definitely a welcome change for app junkies and gamers.

What does this mean?
Well, this means that deveopers have more freedom when creating their apps/games. The 2GB app size limit had prevented some games from being available on the App Store in the past, for example, Square Enix producer, Takashi Tokita said in 2013, that Final Fantasy VII was ‘years away’ due to Apple’s 2GB app size limit. Imagine what developers can do with 4GB to play with. we already have amazing graphics on games like GTA: San Andreas which weighs-in a little under 2GB.
The only downside to this app size increase is that people with 16GB iDevices will most likely run into storage issues, they wouldn’t be able to have more than 3 games (each at around 4GB) at a time.
