Apple announces more than 13 million iPhone 6s and 6s Plus sold in opening weekend

Apple has announced that it has sold over 13 million iPhone 6s and 6s Plus in the first three days of availability. This includes pre-orders and the official public launch which was on Friday 25th September.

If you remember the company previously stated that it was on course to beat last years sales record, which was 10 million, it’s an already impressive feat that they’ve beat it by 3 million, some may say even more so, considering this year was an ‘s’ release.

Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook says that the iPhone 6s sales are ‘phenomenal’…

“Sales for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple’s history,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “Customers’ feedback is incredible and they are loving 3D Touch and Live Photos, and we can’t wait to bring iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to customers in even more countries on October 9.”

The new iPhones will be made available in 40 additional countries from October 9th, ending the year with 130 total countries. This will no doubt further boost the iPhone 6s sales.
