App prices are set to increase… [UPDATE] Prices revealed

Just a heads up…Apple are set to increase prices on the App Store in certain countries, namely Canada, Norway and any country in the European Union. The price increase will happen over the next 36 hours, apparently it is to make up for VAT and foreign exchange rate changes.

The note sent out to iTunes Connect members:

We don’t know the exact percentage of this price increase will be, but I wouldn’t expect it to be too high. There’ll also be a ‘change’ in price on the Russian App Store, now we don’t know whether prices will increase or decrease, but it is also worth noting that last month the Apple Store (in Russia) went offline for a few days and when it was back up, people saw prices of iPhones and iPads increase by up to 35%, which is pretty steep.

Anyway, I’ve been meaning to buy some new apps and games, but never got around to it. Think i’ll be buying whatever is in my App Store Wish List today 🙂

We’ll let you know more when the changes actually happen.

As promised, Apple have increased the prices of apps in the EU, Canada and Norway.
New prices below:
– The Canada App Store will see app prices rise from $0.99 to $1.19
– The U.K. App Store will see prices increase from £0.69 to £0.79
– The EU will see an increase from €0.89 to €0.99
